LINCOLN DAY DINNER

In spite of the earlier flooding, the highways
were finally opened and our Lincoln Day
Dinner was scheduled to proceed.

The evening did not progress as outlined in
the earlier posting. But that's okay. It turned
out well - as was planned. Although I actually was
looking forward to hearing Kim Moseley
and Benny Speaks sing together.

The crowd began to gather early.

I greeted Congressman Crawford and
asked, "What do we call you?"

He replied, "You call me 'Rick', same as
always." That certainly beats Senator
Barbara Boxer's statement when she
insisted upon being called Senator!

Therefore, here is Rick, same as always!

Chad and Rick - handsome twosome.

Rick holds audience with Benny Speaks
and Chase Dugger.

Waiting to get the evening started!

Chad Moseley, our fearless leader and Committee
Chair, welcomed our guests to dinner and the evening.

Larry Corbett offered a prayer for the blessing.

The crowd.

James Cline lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Angel Gipson, from Walnut Ridge High
School, as she sang The Star Spangled Banner.

Angel sang Lee Greenwood's
"I'm Proud To Be An American" - which
earned a standing ovation.

Our evening's M.C., Jon Hubbard (State
Representative District #75) introduces Chase
Dugger Arkansas Republican Executive Director.

Chase outlines the recent successes and
addresses challenges ahead.

Rick sat between the only two women
at the head table . . . Nelda Speaks and me.

M.C. Jon relates some of his experiences as
a State Representative. He introduces
Congressman Rick Crawford, who received
a standing ovation.

Here's Congressman Rick Crawford:

Rick reaching for "our card."

Handing out "our card" for everyone to witness.
This is the card Rick uses to activate the
House voting machine.

Making a point during Q and A.

Rick was recipient of a couple of gifts
presented by Loretta Corbett.

Local honey and a local merchant's hand-
made cup to remind Rick of home were the gifts.
Also the bag read "Pioneer." Loretta stated
Rick was a Pioneer as he is the first
Republican to hold the First District
seat in the House since Reconstruction
Days after the Civil War!

First District Chairman Benny Speaks
shares some of his concerns about the latest
redistricting problems. Worries the outcome
was intentionally directed to defeating Rick in
the next election were put to rest when
Rick had already made viable contacts
in the newly added Southern Counties and
seemed pleased with the outcome.

Benny tells how the political climate prompted
him to write a song, titled: "How Sweet it is."

Nelda Speaks tickled with Benny's performance.

Benny picking and singing, which thrilled our guests.

Door prizes were awarded.

Larry and Chad actually held an live rousing auction
for some shotgun ammo.

Silent Auctions were determined and the winners
happily paid for their loot.

Ordinarily, I am the one wandering about
finding photo ops and getting the event
documented. I had help with this event as
I was not up to my usual self due to illness
that week.

Normally, I'm the one behind the
lens, not in front of it.

Thanks to Jim with camera action. This is one
of his shots. Great shot, Jim!

Thanks go to Ole Hickory for the catered dinner.

And further thanks go to those who worked behind
the scenes: Kim Moseley, Loretta Corbett, Barbara
Clark and the men who helped set up. Special thanks
go to the ladies who brought desserts. There were
others who helped make this event a success, but I
do not know who they were. Thanks anyway,
whoever you are.

Special thanks go to those merchants who
donated to the Secret Auction and helped
make it the success it was. Several of
the ladies were in competition for a couple
of the Auction items and drove the price up.
That is the kind of bidding we like to see because
it makes events like this one possible.

And thanks to all of you of the community who
attended and made the evening a success.
